Tafseer Surah Asr

BY ABU YUSUF This article has been reproduced from Arabic Trench I swear by the time, Most surely man is in loss, Except those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience.   Introduction This chapter is placed between two other chapters that mention loss. In the previous chapter, Sura Al-Takathur, man is a loser because he was diverted by worldly gains until he visits the grave and he will then see hellfire (الْجَحِيمَ), and this is loss.

Tafseer Surah Saff: You who have iman! Why do you say what you do not do? It is deeply abhorrent to Allah that you should say what you do not do.

يا أَيُّهَا الَّذينَ آمَنوا لِمَ تَقولونَ ما لا تَفعَلونَ كَبُرَ مَقتًا عِندَ اللَّهِ أَن تَقولوا ما لا تَفعَلونَ You who have iman! Why do you say what you do not do? It is deeply abhorrent to Allah that you should say what you do not do. (Surah Saff, 61:2-3) The following is a translation of Dr Fadhel al Samarrai’s Tafseer of Surah Saff.

Egypt Mosque Massacre: “As for anyone who kills a believer deliberately, his repayment is Hell, remaining in it for ever.”

BY MOZZIMAL HUSSAIN, Revolution Observer Considerable confusion and scepticism surround the official version of the events of the 24th of November 2017. What is clear is that the al-Rawda mosque located in the northern portion of the Sinai peninsula was attacked by roughly 40 gunmen during Friday congregational prayers. It is also clear that the assailants who arrived in four or five pickups seemed, from the accounts of local residents, intent on maximizing the causalities of this attack.

The Grammatical Marvels of Sura Al-Kawthar

إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ Truly We have given you the Great Abundance. So pray to your Lord and sacrifice. It is the one who hates you who is cut off without an heir. (Surah al-Kawthar)

Genocide of Rohingya Muslims: “Our Lord, take us out of this town whose inhabitants are wrongdoers”

وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ أَهْلُهَا وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِيًّا وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ نَصِيرًا “What reason could you have for not fighting in the Way of Allah – for those men, women and children who are oppressed and say, ‘Our Lord, take us out of this town whose inhabitants are wrongdoers! Give us a protector from You! Give us a helper from You!’?” (An-Nisaa, 4:75)

Al-Aqsa Crisis: “Who could do greater wrong than someone who bars access to the mosques of Allah?”

Allah (Most High) says: وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ مَنَعَ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ أَنْ يُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ وَسَعَىٰ فِي خَرَابِهَا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ مَا كَانَ لَهُمْ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوهَا إِلَّا خَائِفِينَ ۚ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا خِزْيٌ وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ “Who could do greater wrong than someone who bars access to the mosques of Allah, preventing His name from being remembered in them, and goes about destroying them? Such people will never be able to enter them – except in fear. They will have disgrace in the dunya and in the akhira they will have a terrible punishment.” (Al-Baqara, 2:114)

Hadith Classifications

This is an extract from the book Al-Waadih Fee Usool ul-Fiqh by Muhammad Hussein Abdullah available to purchase from Amazon. There are three categories of hadith in respect to their As-Sihhah (soundness) and Ad-Da’f (weakness). These are Saheeh, Hasan and Da’eef. In respect to the Sanad (chain) there are also three categories. These are Al-Mutawaatir, Al-Mash’hoor and Khabar Al-Aahaad.
