There are several narrations in the Sunna which indicate the obligation of both establishing an Imam, and of obeying an Imam Any narration which talks about the necessity to obey the Imam of the Muslims is also a proof of the necessity to establish such an Imam if it is absent These narrations link the obligation to the phrase “death of jahiliyya” – which is also an indication that not having an Imam would be a sin upon that person Any claim otherwise highlights an ignorance of the meaning of the texts found in the Sunna, and the understanding of normative Islam and the ulama throughout the ages

2. CALIPHATE CONTENTIONS: The obligation to establish a Khilafa is not mentioned in the Quran, and therefore not an obligation.

Contention 1: There was no consensus among the companions that appointing a Khalifa is obligatory upon the Muslims. There is a clear consensus of companions upon the necessity to appoint an Imam 2. Their consensus also shows that they considered appointing the Khalifa to be an utmost priority, which was prioritised over both the burial of the Prophet ﷺ and the sanctity of life. 3. The companions differed over who should be the Khalifa – a point which does not detract from its obligation and rather shows that the appointment of Khalifa is by choice and that it is necessity 4. The ijma of sahaba upon the obligation of appointing an Imam is considered a Qat`i – or definitive – proof

London Bridge attack: Muslims are not treacherous and they fulfil their covenants

After the horrific attacks in Manchester and now London Bridge its sad to see that our noble ummah with its high values being maligned as people who are treacherous and cannot be trusted to fulfil their trusts and oaths. Throughout Islamic history the Caliphate fulfilled its covenants and treaties during peace and war, and the Islamic army was known for its exemplary conduct. Islam could not have spread so quickly if those carrying Islam were treacherous and committed atrocities.

The media has always played a pivotal role in accounting governments and shaping public opinion. Its form may have evolved over the ages but its impact is still feared by the ruling class which the Qur’an refers to as the mala (ملا). All the messengers came in to conflict with this group starting from the first of the messengers Nuh (as). Allah (Most High) has guided human beings in all aspects of life including ruling, politics and economics. Explosions hit Coptic churches in Tanta, Alexandria: “Whoever killed a Mu’ahid shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise”

At least 29 people have been killed in a blast inside the Coptic church of Marjeres in the Egyptian city of Tanta. A second blast later at a church in Alexandria killed 18 more. This is not the first bombing of Copts in recent years. Back in January 2011 another Egyptian church was bombed in Alexandria. In response we published an article Egypt’s Copts need the Caliphate which covered a number of points related to how Islam orders the good treatment of dhimmi (non-Muslim citizens of an Islamic State) and prescribes severe punishment for those who harm them.

In addition to the institutionalised mechanisms of accountability discussed so far, Islam also ordered the establishment of political parties. Although members of the government will in many cases be members of political parties the Caliphate does not have a party system of ruling as found in western democracies.
