Islam was not spread by the Sword

The least that can be said regarding the statement that Islam was spread by the sword is that it is a statement that holds no credibility. The enemies of Islam have attempted to pass this off to non-thinking Muslims where they claim the objective of fighting is to make people enter Islam by way of force, even though the falseness of this view is as clear as the sun.

Islamic Judicial Principles relevant to the Asia Bibi Case

  1. Insulting the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a red line that can never be crossed
  2. Extra-judicial punishments are not permitted
  3. Pakistan is a Republican Federal Democratic Nationalist state and does not implement an Islamic judiciary
  4. The Islamic Judiciary has decisional-independence
  5. Islamic courts are not kangaroo courts
  6. Innocent until proven guilty
  7. Judge cannot pass judgement based on his personal biases
  8. Confessions must be given in court and free from duress

The case of Asia Bibi, a Christian who was sentenced to death in Pakistan for alleged blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, has thrown the spotlight on Islamic law (sharia) and its judiciary. Predictably the west has used the case to attack sharia as barbaric and label Islamic courts as kangaroo courts where no justice is served. The status of non-Muslims living under Islamic rule is also under fire where they are viewed as an oppressed minority subject to the tyranny of the Muslim majority.
